DO’s
Use proper hygiene: get a good night's sleep and shower before your appointment.
Eat well: have a balanced meal before the session, bring snacks for longer sessions, and consider taking extra vitamin C.
Stay hydrated: drink at least half a gallon of water within 24 hours before your appointment and avoid caffeinated and energy drinks.
Prepare your skin: moisturize the tattoo area with alcohol-free lotion for a week, shave the area if necessary, and protect it from cuts and bruises.
Protect the area from the sun: avoid sunburn and tanning before your appointment and apply sunscreen on the tattoo area.
Wear proper attire: choose loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access and wear something comfortable that can get dirty.
Bring last-minute items: bring minor consent forms if under 18, have a parent or guardian with you, and pack water and snacks.
DONT’s
Do not show up intoxicated: being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will get you turned away.
Avoid pain relievers: refrain from taking over-the-counter pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil before the session.
Avoid intensive exercise: refrain from activities that drain your muscles and could increase pain during the tattoo process.
Don’t Show Up with Damaged Skin: If you have bruises, burns, or fresh tans, it’s best to postpone your tattoo session.
Don’t Touch Your Tattoo Station: Keep your hands to yourself to maintain a sanitary environment. Touching the artist's tools or the tattoo area can introduce bacteria and increase the risk of infection.
